Our History
We are a small kennel situated just outside the village of Whitley in North Yorkshire.
Our home Wood View is, as the name suggests, surrounded by fields and woodland. Our affix Ladyhawke is taken from the name of one of the local woods.
We have owned a variety of dogs since our childhood but have shared our lives with Hunt Point and Retrieve breeds since the early nineties; our first experience of HPRs was when we acquired our first Weimaraner in 1991, shortly followed by another in 1992.
Sadly we lost our Weimaraner bitch suddenly at the end of 2001. We had admired and researched the German Shorthaired Pointer breed for many years, and in early 2002 we bought our first GSP, Gleadsbury Rising Star over Ladyhawke [Holly] and we can honestly say our lives have never been the same since!!
By the autumn of 2002 Holly had a playmate, Sireva Burn at Ladyhawke [Dallas]. Following the sad loss of our male Weimaraner in the early summer of 2004 aged 13, Winterwell Benjamin Bunny at Ladyhawke JW [Zak], our first male GSP, came to add a new dimension to our lives, in the autumn of 2004.
In November 2005 we mated Gleadsbury Rising Star over Ladyhawke [Holly] to Winterwell the Fifer JW [Piper] and in January 2006 our first litter of GSPs was born. We are grateful to Lesley Trow for allowing us to use her special boy; Piper. This mating produced a lovely litter of puppies and the start of our Ladyhawke line.
